Dance Medicine Practicum
Ten years and counting, Westside Dance Physical Therapy continues to be proud to offer it’s post-professional continuing education Dance Medicine Practicum. This interdisciplinary dance medicine program is focused on clinical assessment and management of the dancer patient and designed to upgrade the knowledge and practical application in the prevention and rehabilitation of dance injuries. Our Dance Medicine Practicum is divided into 4 two-day modules.
Each module consists of a combination of lecture, demonstration, clinical assessment and hands-on lab experience. The maximum number of attendees is limited to 20 with two instructors and one lab assistant. The four units of our Practicum include:
Module I: Concepts of Dance Medicine
Module II: Foot, Ankle & Knee
Module III: Hip, Pelvis & Lumbar Spine
Module IV: Thorax, Cervical Spine & Shoulder Girdle
Upon successful completion of all 4 modules, participants will be required to submit 4 short case studies in order to eligible to receive a Certificate in Dance Rehabilitation Training from WSDPT.
This program is available to Physicians, Allied Health Care Practitioners, Somatic Practitioners, Dance Educators and others by request. Continuing education credits will be available through the New York Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA) and BOC certification for Athletic Trainers (upon request).
