Dance Medicine Practicum

Volunteering at WSDPT

The volunteer aide program is open to individuals interested in going to and/or applying to graduate program in physical therapy. Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 50 hours of service and usually complete their assignment within 6 weeks.

Clinical Affiliations

WSDPT accepts 2 students per year their final clinical affiliation. Clinical affiliations should be no less than 8 weeks and no more than 10 weeks in length.

Students are accepted according to the following criteria:

  1. Superior academic record
  2. Completion of a prior orthopedic affiliation
  3. Experience in the field of dance including but not limited to: dance technique, dance kinesiology, movement analysis and dance medicine.

Students interested in the program should submit the following:

Clinical affiliations are organized approximately a year in advance. Materials are collected from January 1st through February 28th for the following year. Telephone interviews are scheduled in March with notification by the end of April.
